Family Court Commissioner Jennifer Moeller won the election for a Door County Circuit Court judge seat Tuesday, winning 63 percent of the vote compared to attorney Brett Reetz’s 37 percent.
Moeller will take over the Branch 1 seat being vacated by retiring Judge D. Todd Ehlers. The election was the first contested one for a Circuit Court judge position in Door County in 24 years. Moeller was the first woman to run for the position.
Also Tuesday, two new members were elected to the Door County Board of Supervisors, while two incumbents were re-elected in contested races. In two other races, no candidates had filed papers to run in those seats, leaving the outcomes there unclear.
In the election for district 9, which represents parts of the City of Sturgeon Bay, Ryan Shaw defeated Jon Kruse. Dan Austad, the incumbent in that district, did not run for another term.
In district 10, where incumbent Alexis Helm Peter also did not run for re-election, Philip Rockwell won as the only candidate running. The district represents parts of the City of Sturgeon Bay.
In district 3, which represents the Town of Clay Banks and parts of the towns of Forestville and Nasewaupee, incumbent Roy Englebert defeated Jacob VandenPlas. In district 7, which represents parts of the City of Sturgeon Bay, incumbent Claire Morkin defeated Wayne Denil.
The elections in districts 8 and 19 did not have any filed candidates. District 8, where incumbent Rodney Beardsley did not run for re-election, represents parts of the City of Sturgeon Bay. District 19, where incumbent and County Board chair David Lienau did not run for re-election, represents parts of the towns of Baileys Harbor and Liberty Grove and parts of the villages of Ephraim and Sister Bay.
All other County Board members were re-elected.
