The associate director of philanthropy will perform administrative duties related to fundraising, gaining firsthand experience in strategic planning to increase the capacity of a growing nonprofit organization. This part-time role will grow with the right candidate and serve as the catalyst for a successful career in nonprofit fundraising and relationship management.
Door County Knock, a nonprofit news organization dedicated to making sure Door County residents have the news and information they need, seeks a philanthropy associate to help us achieve our ambitious fundraising and expansion goals. The associate director of philanthropy will report to the executive director and work closely with the board of directors and board committees. The right candidate will be highly organized, detail-oriented and entrepreneurial, with strong communication, project management, and task management skills. With successful fundraising, this position can eventually grow into a full-time role.
Door County Knock is an independent, nonprofit news organization covering Door County, Wisconsin. Knock empowers residents, works to improve public discourse in Door County and binds our community together by providing a solid source of in-depth local news on critical issues facing residents.
Desired qualifications:
- Experience in nonprofit fundraising, stewardship, donor relations, project management and/or a related area
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Proficient in Google Suite and CRM software
- Self-starter, able to successfully coordinate multifaceted projects, timelines, and competing priorities
- Ability to work both independently and in collaboration with other people, while working primarily from home (or otherwise remotely)
- Passion for journalism, local news, media, and/or civic engagement
- Outgoing and able to interact with a variety of organizations

Duties:
- Grants
- Track grant opportunities and deadlines
- Research foundations and highlight candidates for relationship-building based on fit with Door County Knock’s work
- Work with executive director to complete grant applications
- Major donors
- Identify candidates from our existing reader base and other available datasets
- Transfer data from previous documents to Door County Knock’s new CRM software
- Help prepare materials for and attend major donor meetings
- Events
- Work with board committees to plan events and be the point person for planning
- Follow up with attendees, sending materials/receipts/thank you notes, etc.
- Donation administrative work
- Process check donations
- Manage online donor questions
- Sponsorship
- Door County Knock does not currently have a revenue program in this area; we’re interested in exploring one
- Other Duties
- Monitor budget in relation to grants, major and reader donations
Location:
The person in this position should reside in or near Door County, Wisconsin.
Salary and Benefits:
- $15,000-$18,000 per year
- A health stipend will be available once position is full-time in the future
