🏫 Education – Southern Door School District (Monday, 5:30 pm)

The Southern Door School Board will go into closed session Monday to discuss a preliminary notice of teacher contract non-renewals and layoffs. The school district’s $3.15 million operational referendum failed earlier this month. Prior to the vote, the district had said that if the referendum did not pass, it would have to eliminate 10 teacher positions and 6 associate positions, as well as freezing pay for all other employees and reducing options for extra-curricular activities. Also at Monday’s meeting, newly elected members of the school board will be sworn in. Read the agenda | Download the agenda packet

🔊Announcements

  • The Door County Sheriff’s Office issued a reminder from the Door County Highway Department on its Facebook page on April 15 regarding current road closures throughout the county due to areas experiencing flooding. According to the post, water levels remain high and road closure locations are changing as conditions shift, with some areas worsening and others beginning to recede. One of the closures listed was County Highway T in Valmy, though the post said it is not the only area of concern. Because roads remain underwater, crews have not yet been able to assess the full extent of the damage. The Door County Highway Department said their main concern was that people do not drive or walk in the areas where roads are closed as they may be “extremely dangerous” and “unpredictable.”
