🚢 Environment – Door County Board of Supervisors (Tuesday, 9 a.m.)

The Door County Board of Supervisors will discuss a resolution urging the Wisconsin Legislature and Department of Natural Resources to immediately inspect and remove the abandoned tug boat “Donny S.” from Baileys Harbor at the board meeting on Tuesday. The 143-foot abandoned boat sits aground on the northeast side of the waters of Baileys Harbor where the vessel’s condition is “uncertain,” but reports raise concern regarding the “structural integrity” and “hazardous contents” of the vessel. 📃 Legal – Village of Sister Bay (Monday, 2:30 p.m.)

The Sister Bay Village Board will enter an executive session to discuss litigation strategy with legal counsel at the board meeting on Monday. This will include matters related to fiber optics, a telecommunications contract and the PSC rate case hearing. Read the agenda

🎒Education – Gibraltar Board of Education (Monday, 7 p.m.)

The Gibraltar Board of Education will discuss the approval of Neola policies that includes student supervision and welfare and student abuse and neglect at the board meeting Monday. The policies were reviewed by the Policy Committee. and the board had a first read of the policies earlier this month. Read the agenda

  • Door County Emergency Management announced in a April 23 Facebook post that residents whose homes or property were impacted by recent flooding should seek cleanup and recovery assistance and report damages by calling 211. Information and assistance related to flood damage and cleanup is in this link

🎉 Community & Non-Profit Events

  • The Peninsula State Park will host the Door County Half Marathon and Nicolet Bay 5k at 10 a.m. Runners receive a finisher’s medal, a long-sleeve tech shirt and a free beer at the finish line. 
  • Crossroads at Big Creek is hosting its “Wandering Wednesdays” where a naturalist will lead an hour-long hike at 1:30 p.m. at the Collins Learning Center. 
  • Visit Fish Creek will host “Derby Days” at 10 a.m. with fancy hats and fun around town as they celebrate the Kentucky Derby.
