🏠  Housing – Sturgeon Bay Common Council (Tuesday, 6 p.m.)

The Sturgeon Bay Common Council will discuss approving a final planned unit development for DOCO Iron Gate, LLC for a condominium development consisting of 34 storage units with optional living space at 1259 Division Road at the council meeting on Tuesday. The proposal would be similar to the Boat House Motor Condos development under construction along South 18th Avenue and Utah Street. Read the agenda

✈️  Airport Master Plan – Ephraim-Gibraltar Airport Commission (Thursday, 4 p.m.)

The Ephraim-Gibraltar Airport will review the airport’s master plan and hear public input on the future of the airport at a meeting on Thursday. The plan includes proposals to add more hangars and extend the runway by about 3,000 feet beyond its current 2,697-foot length. No airport commission business will be conducted at the meeting and no action will be taken by the Airport Commission. Read the agenda

🔊Announcements 

  • The Door County Sheriff’s Office announced in a July 2 Facebook post that a 48-year-old man died after being found unresponsive in Nicolet Bay at Peninsula State Park on Wednesday afternoon. Emergency responders recovered Bryan V. Stork of Columbus, Ohio from the water and attempted life-saving measures before he was transported to a hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. The Gibraltar Police Department and Door County Sheriff’s Office said the investigation is closed. 

🗓️  Community & Non-Profit Events

  • Crossroads at Big Creek will host “Journeys with Joan” on Tuesday, which features a family-friendly nature program about summer butterflies. The free event will invite participants to explore butterflies in Crossroads’ gardens, meadows and fields alongside naturalist Joan Wilkie. 
  • Door County Folk Festival will return to Sturgeon Bay from Thursday through Sunday at 8 a.m. with dance workshops, cultural presentations, live music and nightly dance parties celebrating the cultural richness of America’s ethnic groups. 
  • Crossroads at Big Creek will host bird survey hikes on Friday, where participants will record birds they see and hear using their phones. Participants will meet at 5 a.m. at Ida Bay Preserve.
