🏘️  Housing Development – Sturgeon Bay Common Council (Tuesday, 6 pm)

The Sturgeon Bay Common Council will consider approving a development agreement with DOCO Iron Gate, LLC and DOCO Bay Heights, LLC following a recommendation from the Finance/Purchasing & Building Committee. The proposed agreement would authorize the development of approximately 35.4 acres of city-owned land at 1259 Division Road into three components: a workforce housing subdivision with about 30 single-family homes, a market-rate subdivision with approximately 36 units of single-family homes and duplexes, and a Planned Unit Development (PUD) consisting of 34 storage-unit condominiums with optional living space. 💸  Tax Incremental Financing – Sister Bay Village Board (Tuesday, 6 pm)

The Sister Bay Village Board will discuss adopting a formal Tax Incremental Financing (TIF) Assistance Policy at the board meeting on Tuesday. The proposed policy would create a “clear, consistent, and transparent” process for reviewing future TIF assistance requests, including eligibility requirements, application procedures, financial limits and evaluation criteria. It also establishes that TIF assistance should generally be used only for projects that would occur with public participation and prioritizes developments that expand the tax base and support workforce housing. 🖥️  Cybersecurity – Southern Door Board of Education (Monday, 6:30 pm)

The Southern Door Board of Education will receive information on phishing email scams at its board meeting on Monday. The discussion is expected to address phishing threats and cybersecurity awareness. Read the agenda.

🔊Announcements 

  • The Wisconsin Department of Health Services confirmed the first confirmed West Nile virus activity in the state this year, according to a July 14 press release. Mosquitos collected in Milwaukee County and a wild bird in Bayfield County tested positive for the virus, which indicates that there are mosquitos in the state that have the virus and can transmit it to animals and people. No human cases have been reported in 2026, but the department is encouraging residents to take precautions against mosquito bites as the risk typically continues through the summer and fall until the first hard frost.

  • Crossroads at Big Creek will host a “Tales: The Busy Tree” event, where Door County Librarian Beth Lokken will read “The Busy Tree” by Jennifer Ward on Monday at 2 p.m.
  • Ephraim’s weekly Bondemarked Farmers Market will take place Monday from 3 to 6 p.m. on the open grass lots adjacent to the Red Putter. Local farmers, artisans and vendors offer fresh produce, handmade goods and other products. Visitors can also stay for the free Harborside Park gazebo concert from 6 to 8 p.m. following the market. 
  • The Sister Bay Historical Society will host “Sister Bay Stories – More Than Just an Orchard: The Carlson Family and Wildwood Market” on Thursday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Corner of the Past/Old Anderson House Museum. Mark and Mary Pat Carlson will share the history of their family’s land and the evolution of their cherry orchard and Wildwood Market.
